Congratulations to Andy Seymour & Stephen Miles, winners of the 2007/2008 Doubles Competition!

In the best Doubles final played so far in the leagues history, Andy Seymour and Stephen Miles needed nearly four hours to beat off a strong challenge from Richard Parry and Pete Lowe. Finally winning by 4 frames to 2.

Andy started with a flourish, making a break of 77 in the first frame. The second frame could have gone either way, with a few fouls on the colours, but the frame went the same way as the first. The third frame saw a tough determined fight back by Pete and Richard, and in a close fought frame they won by 19 points. The fourth frame was very tense. Andy and Steve taking a big lead of over 40 points, only for Richard and Pete to fight their way back and win the frame 65-63. Frame 5 was down to the last two colours, and a delicate pink left literally on the edge of the pocket allowed Andy and Steve to move ahead 3-2. The 6^th frame was very tense indeed with both teams finding it hard to put any good breaks together, but eventually Andy hit a 30 break and the match was over.

Well done to both teams for putting on a really great final and congratulations to the winners!
